I've been a regular ACAR customer for years. Recently I was especially grateful to Al's crew for NOT doing work I had requested on an elderly vehicle. Instead, they called to report several vehicle defects that I had not been of, and which could cost BIG BUCKS in the near future. My husband and I have been coming to you guys for a few years now for different services ranging from oil changes, break jobs and replacing fuel pumps, but both of our most recent experiences (separate times but within a few weeks of each other) were not as pleasant as they normally are. This feedback is going to be based on my experience, as well as my husbands experience because he won't write a review. First, the girl, Lindsey, at the front desk, she has NO customer service skills what so ever, nor does she seem to know mechanics or cars very well and when she answers the phone it sure doesn't sound like she enjoys her job. God for bid she has to answer a question for you, you might get a correct answer. She sighs, says "whatever" and "I think so", not reassuring. Frankly I miss Barry. Second, My husband recently had to get his fuel pump replaced, not a cheap job. It died on him while driving home from work so he had it towed to ACAR , this was a Tuesday evening. I have been to a couple places that ripped me off for parts and service that I didn't need. Since I have been going to ACAR, I have been more than pleased with the service and treatment of the staff. I am always told what they will do, in advance. They have discussed with me anything they have found that needs repairing and given me an estimate before doing anything. When I left my car there for service, they even gave me a ride home and a ride the next day to get my car when it was finished (I've never had that service before). They are pleasant and helpful and take into consideration that I cannot afford expensive parts and repairs. Needless to say that was her first and last time bringing her car to ACAR and possibly mine as well. $30 for a tire rotation is ridiculous when I get mine for free because I bought tires at town fair. I was scheduled for an oil change but switched it to my 90,000 factory check up after receiving an e-reminder that the car was due. I really like the fact that service notices and reminders are computer based. The service was completed in four hours. I received a ride to and from my place of work to retrieve my vehicle. It could not be more convenient. It seems to me that the cost of service is on the high side but you get what you pay for. At least when I have my car serviced here, I know that the work is well done and my car is being well taken care of which, to me, makes the ride more reliable. They are proactive letting you know what needs to be done now and what will be coming up in the future. They give a AAA discount and will drop you at work and pick you up when your car is finished.
